Tankar –The Light house island

This popular sight (with over 10,000 visitors per summer) is located 17 km to the north-west of Kokkola. The barren island was a base for seal-hunters and fishermen for centuries and later, an important landmark for seafarers. There is a lighthouse (built in 1889), open for the public, on the island as well as a sheltered guest harbour and pier, café/restaurant, chapel, museum, nature trail, and cairn. A Sea Trip for small groups

The Fishing Village

The Fishing village is inviting for boat people and landlubbers! There is a guest harbour with a café, sea-bathing, a museum and a nature trail. Boat trips and guided tours can be arranged. The Archipelago Days are held on the last weekend in July. The Jetty Café (Café Bryggan) is open daily from 1.6. - 31.8. between 11– 22. The Loggers’ House from the early 1900’s is furnished in the archipelago style and offers home baked buns, cakes and snacks. There is a large sunny terrace facing the Vargholmsfjärden strait. Food can be ordered by prior arrangement.


Öja Village Centre

This is a multi-functional service centre, situated by the shore in the fishing village. A total area of 750 m² is available to be hired for parties, conferences, events and meetings. There is an office and a meeting room which may be hired, with a 100 MB broadband connection. The restaurant seats 80 – 100 people and the hall seats up to 200. Delicious meals from the archipelago are available by prior booking. Contact us, and together we can plan your event!
